Leadership development for senior professionals and executives.
Executive coaching is a contracted engagement with a defined agenda, almost always led by the client rather than the coach. The work starts with an assessment — often 360-degree feedback gathered from a boss, peers, and direct reports, which is usually uncomfortable and reliably the most valuable input in the whole process. From there you and the coach agree two or three development goals, and sessions are held fortnightly with work done between them. Typical engagements run three to six months, occasionally twelve for a major transition such as a first C-suite role.
Credentials vary in this field more than almost any other. The International Coaching Federation is the main international body, with three levels of certification; look for an ICF credential and, at minimum, a proper training background. A background in organisational psychology, management consulting, or a senior corporate role is common and often more useful than the credential alone. In India you will also see large-firm executive coaches who charge corporate rates — genuinely good, and running a fraction of what independent certified coaches cost.
Fees span roughly ₹5,000 to ₹25,000 per session, and typically buy a series rather than a single meeting. Pay attention to what is included: some coaches bundle 360 feedback and its interpretation, which is a substantial part of the cost and the value; others charge it separately. The coach is not there to tell you what to do. If you are hoping to be given answers, this is the wrong kind of help — you already know more about your organisation than any outside coach will.
