Explainer videos, ads, and motion graphics for web and social.
Animation covers several quite different products. 2D hand-drawn animation has a visible line quality and a limited frame budget, and is still the default choice for character-led storytelling. 3D suits anything involving objects, architecture, or product visualisation, and handles camera moves that 2D cannot. Motion graphics — animated typography, charts, and abstract shapes — is what most business content is actually made of, and it is the fastest and cheapest of the three. Whiteboard and line-art styles sit between 2D and motion graphics and are popular for explainers.
Production runs in stages, and you can pay a lot less by understanding them. Script first, then storyboard, then style frames that lock the look, then the animation, then sound. Most projects overrun because the script changes after the storyboard has been drawn or the voice-over arrives after the animation is finished. If you are commissioning an explainer, have the script approved and the voice-over recorded before anything else moves. Some studios will script for you.
Pricing is usually per finished second or per project, and length matters less than complexity — a ten-second product animation in 3D can cost more than a two-minute explainer in motion graphics. On rates, a freelance animator in India charges somewhere in the range of ₹1,500 to ₹15,000 per second depending on style and studio, though a studio handling script, voice, sound, and delivery will quote the whole project. Ask what is included in the price, and whether you are licensing the video outright or only for a set period.
